Raipur district collector O P Choudhary has confirmed his resignation through a comment to serve the people through his official Facebook page.
Meanwhile, State Government in an order has deputed Deepak Soni, Chief Executive Officer, Zila Panchayat as Raipur Collector with additional charge. As today is Saturday and tomorrow is Sunday, Election Commission of India has not given clearance for appointment of the new collector.
As election is round the corner, State Government has to clear all the top level appointments through the Election Commission of India.
As per information received, O P Choudhary (IAS 2005) batch officer had handed over its resignation on August 16 to Chief Secretary. It is said he had discussion with Chief Minister after which the letter was forwarded to Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on August 17. As the resignation had been accepted, he could not attend the Election Commission of India video-conferencing with the District Electoral Officers.
As per political sources, O P Choudhary is expected to join Bharatiya Janata Party and as per earlier schedule, he was expected to join before BJP National President Amit Shah at Raipur. But due to demise of former Prime Minister late Atal Behari Vajpayee, the event was cancelled.
O P Choudhary in his Facebook message states, “From the streets of Bayang village to become Raipur Collector, the trip took 13 years of life which provided me many challenges in life.
During this trip thousands of people have been with me directly-indirectly, feeling gratitude towards them, does not have any words in Hindi vocabulary, and there would be shortage for it. Now, I want to dedicate my complete time for my soil and its people’s betterment. Therefore, I had given my resignation as IAS. Jai-Hind, Jai-Chhattisgarh…”
Congress, reacting to it, said that the allegations of Congress that administrative officials are assisting BJP in election prove the point with the resignation. The BJP party which believed in their party workers are now have more belief in the administrative officials. He had brought shame on the bureaucracy by shielding the acts of incompatible ministers and event management.
BJP State president Dharamlal Kaushik reacting to Congress comment said that it should read its own history. BJP is 11 crore membership party, the biggest in world. Why Congress is having so much pain if any young IAS officer wants to work with BJP to serve people. Whenever any officer has left job and joined Congress, BJP had never reacted.
