In the backdrop of rising crime against women in trains, the South East Central Railway (SECR) has launched a toll free helpline number for women passengers.
In case of any emergency, the female passengers can call on 18002332534 for help, Railway officials informed here on Saturday.The control room for toll free number has been set up at SECR headquarters in Bilaspur where RPF jawans and railway officials will be available round-the- clock.The Bilaspur control room has been connected with RPF, GRP stations/outposts, besides local police stations.
On receiving a distress call from any female passenger, the train on which the caller is travelling would be located and the GRP/RPF force concerned in the area would be alerted. The force would reach the spot to help of the woman commuter immediately.In addition to this toll free number, a RPF help line number is also currently functional. The number 09752490777 is available for every passenger. Any person, who feels any kind of risk in the train, can register his or her complaint on the number.
The railway authorities have urged all passengers to save themselves from becoming victim of loot, food poisoning etc by availing these numbers.
