Hitting back at the Congress party, senior BJP leader and minister Brijmohan Agrawal on Tuesday said Ramesh Bais has performed four times better than the Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, in the Parliament.
Speaking to reporters at State Party headquarters 'Ekatm Parisar' here, Agrawal who is the Election Coordinator of the BJP for Raipur lok Sabha seat said, “Rahul Gandhi’s miserable performance in the lok Sabha has already been exposed.”
Citing a report which appeared in a national magazine on the overall performance of different members in the lok Sabha, Agrawal said Bais, the member from Raipur, had been four times more active in the Parliament than Rahul Gandhi .
“Bais is among the best parliamentarians who has made 100 per cent utilisation of his Member of Parliament local Area Development (MPlAD) fund and carried out several developmental works in all the nine assembly constituencies falling under the Raipur lok Sabha seat,” Agrawal claimed in a press conference.
“In terms of MPlAD fund utilisation, Rahul Gandhi and his mother AICC President Sonia Gandhi cannot even reach close to what Bais had achieved,” he said.
According to the figure published in the same national magazine, Bais is four times ahead of Rahul Gandhi in terms of overall performance in the parliament, he said.
While Bais occupied 76th position in the 543 member parliament in terms of overall performance, Rahul Gandhi had been placed at 355th position, he said.
The performance score of Bais stood at 8.5 per cent while Rahul Gandhi's performance score had been only 3.5 per cent , he said while referring to the data published by the magazine.
Agrawal claimed that six times MP Bais will be elected for seventh term with much higher margin than the past.
The way people are spontaneously greeting and blessing him (Bais), it has been clear that the welfare and developmental works carried out by the BJP Government in the last 11 years are reaching to them, he said.
People of the country have made up their mind to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of the country. That is why, they will elect Bais with record margin and send him to the lok Sabha, he said.
Even when he (Satyanarayan Sharma) was elected to the State assembly from Raipur (Rural) seat, what prompted him to contest the lok Sabha election from the Raipur seat by snatching the party ticket from a woman.
By doing so, he has cheated the people of his Assembly constituency, Agrawal said.
Praising Bais for his contribution made to Chhatisgarh, Agrawal said during his tenure as a Union Minister Bais always worked for the formation of Chhattisgarh state.
It was Bais, who explained in detail to the then Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during the tenure of NDA Government at the Centre about the need for a separate Chhattisgarh State, he said.
The contribution of Bais for the formation of separate Chhattisgarh State has today proved as a blessing for two-and-a-half crore people of the State, he said.
It was Bais who played the lead role in convincing Vajpayee and the then Union Health Minister, Sushma Swaraj, for the need of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur.
Although the ground breaking ceremony was done during the NDA Government, the Congress after coming to power put it in cold storage,
he said.Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh approved the project only after coming under pressure from the MPs of Chhattisgarh including Bais, he said.
Agrawal also mentioned about several other projects implemented in the State due to the efforts of Bais.
Interacting with reporters, Bais said the Congress had never thought anything for the people of Chhattisgarh and in 1980, when Arjun Singh was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and he (latter) used to stream all the projects to his own area.
It was the Congress which claims itself as “pro farmer” which halted the Bhatapara canal work and delayed it for ten years. Bais said there is wave in favour of Narendra Modi and Raman Singh in the State.
