All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice President Rahul Gandhi may visit Chhattisgarh by end of this month for highlighting the alleged wrongdoings happening in distribution of forest rights certificates in Chhattisgarh, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) Chief Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here after holding a key meeting of party office-bearers and other leaders, he said : “ AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi had recently called a meeting of representatives from different states where forest right certificates (patta) have been distributed,” Baghel said.
It was then known that in Chhattisgarh not a single patta on community basis has been provided to people. The Congress VP has instructed party workers to keep the struggle on and it is very much expected that he (Rahul Gandhi) may visit Chhattisgarh soon, Baghel said.
He alleged that the government at the Centre was trying to destabilize state governments and against this, the State Congress unit has launched ‘loktantra Bacho Andolan’.
Meanwhile, the Congress party has also written a letter to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding CBI inquiry into the Jheeram Ghati massacre by Maoists in May 2013. In the letter, the Congress leaders maintained that despite repeated demands from Congress party, the State government had not got CBI inquiry done into the incident.
