All India Congress Committee (AICC) Treasurer Motilal Vora has said that soon after being given the charge of AICC President, Rahul Gandhi would choose his new team including that of Chhattisgarh.

The Gujarat assembly polls would be fought under leadership of Rahul Gandhi, he said.

Vora had arrived in the State through a scheduled flight from New Delhi on Wednesday to celebrate Diwali in his paternal home in Durg.

Talking to reporters at the Swami Vivekananda Airport here, the veteran leader said that both the Centre as well as the Chhattisgarh government were not giving proper attention to the farmers from drought ridden pockets of the State and that a lot has to be done for their welfare.

Regarding election of Rahul Gandhi as AICC President, he informed that every state in the country has sent the proposal to elect Rahul Gandhi as the AICC President.

Party’s organisational elections is underway in the states and would be completed by October 31, he said.

Vora also expressed distress that the Centre was not declaring the election schedule for the Gujarat assembly elections. The defeat of BJP in Gujarat is certain as the people are angry over the enforcement of GST, he said.

Talking about Congress party’s State of affairs in Chhattisgarh, he said that the party organisation in the State is doing well and it is certain that the next Government in the State in the year 2018 would be that of the Congress party.

The understanding between the party high command and the state leadership is good and this will provide good news in the coming Assembly polls, he said.
