Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has accepted an invitation of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to visit the state.

Baghel extended the invitation when he called on Gandhi during his visit to New Delhi on Saturday.

Chief Minister described the meeting as informal and said he had invited Gandhi to visit the state.

“We want to show him the works undertaken during the last seven months of the Congress government in the state as per his aspirations. Rahul Gandhi has accepted the invitation and this time he is expected to stay in Chhattisgarh for two-three days,” he said. No talks on the appointments of chairpersons of boards and commissions were held, Baghel said.

The schedule for Gandhi’s visit had not yet been finalized, the CM added.

Congress leaders stated that Rahul Gandhi had promised the party’s state leaders during election campaigns that he would soon be arriving Chhattisgarh and spend a longer period.

Chief Minister Baghel was on a two day-visit to capital city where he called on various party leaders along with attending local programmes. He returned to Raipur in the evening.
