'Radical change on agricultural front'

Published on:
There has been a radical transformation on the agricultural front due to paucity of time and modern technological methods adopted by the farmers, a State Government Press statement claimed on Saturday.“Traditional ways of farming are slowly making way to high-tech ways. Sowing, seeding and harvesting are done by machines as there is shortage of time and labour. Farm equipment is provided on rental basis to the farmers through the Agriculture Equipment Seva Kendras,'' the statement added.
The Kendras were opened in Private-Public Partnership (PPP) model in 2010-2011. About 420 Krishi Yantra Seva Kendras have been opened in Chhattisgarh till now which provides necessary farm equipment to farmers on hire. The Agriculture Department officers said that agriculture entrepreneurs, self-help groups (5-member groups), registered co-operative samities, Primary Agriculture Co-operative Societies are entitled to open Krishi Yantra Seva Kendras.
The State Government provides subsidies on all the farm equipments used in tilling of land, sowing, harvesting and threshing. These also include tractors, harvester and other equipment. The Government gives huge subsidies to these Krishi Yantra Seva Kendras.
