Pvt hospitals, labs told to share info of Covid patients with govt

The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday instructed all private labs and hospitals to inform the state surveillance unit and district Chief Medical Health Officers (CMHO) about Covid-19 infected and suspected patients.

“Private hospitals and labs will have to share the information about Corona suspects (with symptoms like cold, fever, serious breathing disease or resembling other Covid symptoms) along with Covid positive patients with state surveillance unit and district CMHOs,” an official press release said.

The Health Department said the order was released after it was noted that private labs and hospitals were not sharing the information with the district administration and the Health Department.

Failure to share the information will be considered a violation of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, and Chhattisgarh Epidemic Disease Covid-19 Regulation Act 2020 and will be punishable, officials said.

So far 24,386 persons have been detected corona positive in Chhattisgarh while 14,145 have been discharged from hospitals. Currently, there are 10,012 active cases in the state. Also 229 Covid patients have died in Chhattisgarh.
