A public hearing scheduled to be held on December 30 in Surguja district for reject coal-based Thermal Power Project 540/600 MW (4X135/150 MW) of Surguja Power Private limited has been postponed by the district administration.
“Due to certain reasons, the public hearing for the thermal power project has been postponed untill further orders,’’ District Collector Ritu Sain told The Pioneer from Ambikapur.
Although, Hasdeo Arand Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has recently submitted a memorandum demanding cancellation of public hearing scheduled to be held on December 30 in village Basan under Udaypur block of the district citing some environmental issues, but the decision to postpone the hearing was not taken on the basis of points raised by the Samiti,” she said.
While citing a series of environmental issues on the other hand, the Hasdeo Arand Bachao Sangharsh Samiti on December 21 submitted a memorandum demanding cancellation of public hearing for the power project in Basan region, said Convener of Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan Alok Shukla.
