Proud of Raman's leadership: Amit Shah

BJP president Amit Shah heaped praise on Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Friday at a massive convention of party cadres and stated that he was proud of his leadership.

“I am proud of Raman Singh’s leadership in Chhattisgarh’’, Shah started his speech with this remark at Science College ground where thousands of party workers assembled as a part of party’s ongoing mega membership drive.Chhattisgarh capital was painted saffron as Shah landed in Raipur on the day when BJP Government completed 11 years in office in the mineral-rich State. Shah felicitated the ayurvedic doctor-turned politician Singh at the dais amid roaring slogans by BJP cadres who cheered for Chief Minister.

The open support to Raman Singh in presence of thousands of cadres and entire frontline BJP State leadership has made a full stop to a rumour that was doing the rounds in the State about the possible change of leadership in the State after botched sterilisation surgeries last month in Bilaspur district which claimed 13 poor women and created an outrage against the Chhattisgarh government.Shah announced that BJP had planned to raise its members strength up to a record 10 crore across the country from a current figure of roughly 3 crore to become the largest cadre-based political outfit of the world.

Pointing towards party workers at the convention, the BJP chief said “if party cadres strength goes up to 10 crore mark then I can promise no party in India can defeat the BJP over the next 50 years’’.  “I appeal to 50,000 party members in Chhattisgarh to take up membership campaign very seriously and ensure to increase the members strength to 50 lakh in the state and it will be possible only if each worker brings 100 new members in the party fold,’’ Shah said. The party workers raised their hands in response to Shah’s appeal.
