Dozens of Congress workers from Janjgir-Champa lok Sabha constituency created ruckus at the State Congress office in the city here on Wednesday.
Women holding placards and party flags opposed the party’s choice of lok Sabha candidate for the constituency and demanded a ticket to Ramesh Paigwar in place of Premchand Jayasy. They said that if the candidate was not changed they would oppose him in the polls. They accused Jayasy of giving false information in his bio-data.
The party workers in the Janjgir-Champa constituency have been opposing the candidature of Jayasy, calling him a ‘fake candidate.’As the Congress has not taken any decision on their demand, the workers reached the State party headquarters in Raipur and staged a demonstration. They have assured victory of the party in Janjgir-Champa if Municipal Chairman Ramesh Paigwar is given the ticket.
The protesting workers said that earlier also they had demonstrated at the state party office and had placed their demands before the party’s State general secretary Girish Devangan. As no decision was taken on their demands, they reached the Congress Bhawan again on Wednesday, they said.
The workers said that Jayasy was defeated in the Assembly polls from Masturi. At that time he had said that he was resident of Masturi. But now, in the lok Sabha election he claims that he is resident of Pamgarh area. It has been mentioned in the bio-data also, besides giving many more wrong information.
If the candidate is not changed, they would oppose and the Congress would face defeat in the polls, the infuriated party workers warned.
