To promote education and to give employment opportunities to the minorities, wide publicity should be given among the minority communities, Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar said here on Monday.

In the meeting of the State-level committee constituted for the implementation of Prime Minister’s new 15-point programme for the welfare of minorities, the chief secretary instructed the officers to make proper arrangement under the Skill Development Mission for imparting skill development training to the youths of minority communities, as the state government has given rights for skill development to the youths under the Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme. For this, he said, after identifying trainers in the minority dominated areas, training should be imparted to the youths and they should be given attested certificates, so that they might get more job opportunities. He instructed to list the number of school dropouts among minorities’ children and to take measures to bring down the number.

Under the new 15-point programme of the Prime Minister, measures were being taken to promote educational opportunities, equal participation in economic activities and in employment, improvement in living standards and to control caste discrimination and violence. The minority population in Chhattisgarh is about four per cent and according to the new instructions of the central government, by making development blocks as units, five development blocks of Jashpur district – Kansabel, Duldula, Manora, Jashpur Nagar and Kankuri – have been marked for multi-area development schemes after declaring them 25 per cent minority populated area. Under this scheme, for multi-skill development, a proposal for sanction of Rs 10 crore per development block has been sent to the Central Government.
