Promises remained unfulfilled, says BJP

BJP leaders on Monday termed the Chhattisgarh budget presented by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as targeting the upcoming assembly polls. It lacks allocations for unfulfilled promises made to the people, they said.

State BJP President Arun Sao called the budget disappointing. There is no provision for prohibition, waiver off loans of women self-help groups, regularizing daily wage earners and of 200 food processing plants.

Renuka Singh, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, said the Congress came to power in 2018 with many promises, which are yet to be fulfilled. Liquor prohibition was the key one, she said.

Former Chief Minister Raman Singh termed it a "trust-breaking" budget. For the first time, a lot of pre-publicity was given and advertisements rolled out for the budget. This, he said, shows the government faces a crisis of confidence.
