Chhattisgarh State Election Commission has initiated the process to recall the Nagar Panchayat presidents of Sariya in Raigarh district and Vishrampuri in Kondagaon district under the Right to Recall Act.

The State Government had urged the Commission to start polling process to recall these presidents under Section 47 sub-section (2) of the Chhattisgarh Nagar Palika Act 1961. In this regard, the Commission has issued the programme for preparing voter list of these Nagar Panchayats. Under the programme, the voter list will be prepared and reviewed based on the reference of January 1, 2014.

In the programme issued along with the circular on February 21 to the collectors of both districts, the Commission had asked them to make publicity of the publication of voter list, appoint authorised employees, training to them, sent notice to MPs/MlAs/Corporators and to provide draft of voter list to recognised political parties, on March 13.

By publishing public notice of draft voter list on March 13, the process to invite claims and objections should be started. Claims and objections would be received on March 22 upto 3 pm. Thereafter, ward-wise supplementary voter list will be prepared by March 29, which will be printed on April 1.

Officers of the commission said that supplementary voter lists would be added to the original (preliminary) list on April 3. The final publication of the voter list would be done on April 7. As per the circular, for the Municipality election, sufficient copies of directory-2012 for preparation of voter list had been sent to the collectors and district election officers of both these districts.
