Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo on Thursday appealed to the citizens and all the political parties to ensure that new electors having attained the age of 18 years as on January 1, 2019 and those left out in last Assembly election have chance to register their names during the special summary revision of electoral rolls.

Addressing a press conference here, Sahoo said that with this process the first step of Lok Sabha polls 2019 will commence.

The primary publication of the electoral roll has been done on Wednesday. There are a total of 1,85,80,610 electors out of which 93,10,772 are male and 92,68,874 are females while 964 are Third Gender. This number would change with addition of new electors, he said.

“Electors can add their names till January 25, 2019. All the submitted claims and objections would be disposed before February 22. The updating of database of electoral roll and printing of supplementary electoral roll is scheduled before February 18 and the final publication of electoral roll is on February 22”, he said.

Sahoo pointed out as in assembly election, the political parties should appoint a booth level agent so to ensure that electors can be systematically added in the electoral roll, mainly those left out during the assembly election.

Door to door survey will be done, duplicate entry/deceased elector and permanently transferred electors would be deleted, the persons with disabilities (PWD) electors’ will be identified and those left out citizens will be added in the electoral roll, the CEO said.

Sahoo explained in detail the whole process of addition and deletion process, documents required for adding names as electors and approaching both through booth level and registering through online for inclusion in electoral roll.

On a query, he said, “Cases were found that the BLO had not submitted the forms on time due to which many new electors name could be added in electoral roll during the summary revision during assembly election 2018. It is being counter checked.”
