The Opposition Congress members on Wednesday tried to corner the State government on the case of alleged beating up of Independent MlA Dr Vimal Chopra by policemen in Mahasamund district.
Congress member Satyanarayan Sharma said that a privilege notice has already been served on the issue.
Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal said that he will allow discussion on the issue but MlA Dr Vimal Chopra had not yet issued any statement in this regard to the Assembly Secretariat.
He said that as soon as the Member notifies the case, a thought will be given for a discussion in the House.
It may be recalled that MlA was beaten blue and black by Mahasamund police a fortnight ago. He along with his supporter had staged demo at the Kotwali Police Station in Mahasamund over a matter of eve teasing of girl handball players in local stadium. He later staged a sit-in even though section 144 was imposed.
Police under the then City Superintendent of Police Uday Kiran had unleashed cane charge on the agitating group led by MlA. The police also did not spare the MlA. He too was charged with cane. The controversial police official, Kiran was later transferred to Durg, after cabinet ministers conducting on spot probe. Ministers also came out heavily against the action of police official.
