Prisoners to connect with sisters virtually on Rakhi

In view of Covid-19,          prisoners in Chhattisgarh's jails can contact their sisters via video and phone calls on Raksha Bandhan day this year, officials said on Saturday.

Home Minister Tamaradhwaj Sahu has asked jail authorities to make arrangements in this             connection, an official press release said on Saturday.

“Due to the Covid         pandemic, it was decided that unlike every year when sisters would reach the prison to tie Rakhi to their brothers, this year no one will be allowed to meet in the jail,” the press release said.

“In jails, arrangement for video and phone calling should be made so that brothers can connect with their sisters on Raksha Bandhan. Also, if jail authorities receive Rakhi via post, they should be sent to the prisoners,” the Minister was quoted as saying in the statement.
