Prices soaring under Modi government: Congress

Published on:

The erroneous policies of the Modi government are responsible for the rising prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and fuel besides both wholesale and retail inflation, the national head of the Congress party's women's wing said on Saturday.

No opportunity is being lost to rob people, Netta D’Souza told the media here.

She said ordinary people have become helpless as the petrol-diesel price has crossed the Rs 100-mark, a cooking gas cylinder costs over Rs 1,000 while cooking oil is also over Rs 200 per kg. Similarly, food prices are also on the rise.

Citing the excise hike on petroleum products, demonetization, Goods and Services Tax (GST) and support given to the corporates, she said these policies have only pushed up the prices of various commodities.

She said while the earlier Congress-led UPA government had 27 crore people out of poverty, the Covid-19 pandemic and the government policies had pushed 23 crore people back into that category.

D'Souza was all praise for the Congress government in the state and said the policies of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had put money into the pocket of the people.
