The Chhattisgarh Forest Department on Sunday seized precious Kahir wood valued at Rs 50 lakh during a raid on a restaurant in the Mahasamund Forest Range.
Officials seized the Senegalia catechu (khair) wood from the owner of Hotel Krishna Palace, Amitabh Pal alias Munna, in Saraipali, Mahasamund Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Pankaj Rajput said.
The officials found the wood in eight tractors and also wood cutting tools, a statement said.
