The State Government will open a pre-Primary School at Sector 27 of the new Capital during the current financial year.
A first supplementary grant for the current financial year had made a provision of `10.20 lakh for the purpose, official stated. The Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) is also in the process of developing the state-of-art Model High School in the new capital.
The school is being developed in phases. The estimated cost of the Phase-I of the project is `25 crore which may vary, officials stated.
Notably, Naya Raipur is also coming up as a hub for global education as the process for development of Phase-I of the state-of-art campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) including its building has commenced.
The Phase-I of the campus is being developed at a cost of `296.45 crore with the completion of the works being estimated within a period of two years, they stated. Significantly, the Chhattisgarh Government had been focussing on providing an elaborate platform for various institutions to establish their state-of-art campus in the new capital.
The State Government has also established the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Naya Raipur.
Moreover, the NRDA last year also announced to construct and develop Phase-I of Christel House School at Sector 25 here.
Notably, during the month of March last year in what could be termed as an endorsement for the agenda to provide quality education to the poor, the NRDA had signed an agreement with Christel House, an International charity with a proven track record in breaking the cycle of poverty through educating children.
As a part of the agreement, NRDA is providing land and infrastructure for a Christel House school in Naya Raipur. The Christel House will apply its experience and resources in a variety of disciplines including teaching, community outreach, finance, administration and so on to educate impoverished children in the State.
The NRDA had entrusted them the task of providing good quality streamlined education and holistic development of the poor children.
Christel House was set up in Bangalore in 2001 by entrepreneur turned philanthropist, Christel DeHaan from the USA. The objective of Christel House is to provide education, nutrition and healthcare to children from the poorest of the poor sections of society and make them economically independent and contributing members.
Raju Shahani, MD and Chairperson, Christel House India had stated last year , ‘We are proud to be a part of yet another State’s drive to provide good quality education and values to children from economically backward sections of society.’
The Christel House is the only charity that completes the cycle by taking children in Kindergarten, providing them education till Class XII, mentor them to pursue degrees and diplomas at State universities and finally place them in jobs. The partnership with the Government of Chhattisgarh is a validation of our success story in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where we operate our schools in Bangalore and lavassa, he had stated.
