Pre-monsoon showers struck Raipur and some other parts of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. Dark clouds hovered above the city in the afternoon and gusty winds followed, resulting in heavy rains.
The Meteorological Department said monsoon was likely to hit the city in the coming days.
“The pre-monsoon showers usually come a week ahead of the actual monsoon, and the monsoon looks it will be slightly delayed,” said an official.
Chhattisgarh has witnessed high temperatures in the past week, with the day temperature in many places crossing 42 degrees Celsius.
With cloud build-up and increased humidity, the Meteorological Department forecasts occasional pre-monsoon showers in different parts of the state.
