The Sikh community in the city celebrated Prakash Utsav of Shri Guru Granth Sahib at the Gurudwara by holding prayers, hymns and community service on Monday.
The function commenced with a prayer session featuring recital of Kirtan and Shabad from the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of the community.
The function started early in the morning and was celebrated the entire day with
great devotion. The programme concluded with ‘Guru Ka langar’ prepared at the community kitchen of the Gurudwara. Participating in the ceremony, a senior member of Sadar Bazaar Gurudwara  Committee, Pritam Singh Saluja enlightened about the importance of the day.
He also thanked the devotees for making time for the holy day even though it was a  working day.
“The Guru Granth Sahib is indeed unique in its thought, literal expression and the  message it communicates, centuries after it was written. Exalted thoughts need to be transported on the vehicles of language to reach the masses”, he said.
He informed that selfless service (Sewa) was the basic belief of Sikh faith. The function was celebrated with great devotion and concluded with ‘Guru Ka langar’.
