BJP Corporator from Tatyapara ward, Prafull Vishwakarma was elected as Speaker of Mayor-in-Council (MiC) here on Monday. Vishwakarma defeated his opponent Nagbhusan Rao of Congress from Banjari Mata ward by difference of 11 votes. Out of total 71 votes, 40 went in favour of Vishwakarma while two votes were declared invalid due to technical reasons. Nagbhusan Rao got 29 votes, informed District Collector and Election officer Thakur Ram Singh.
Four Corporators, two each from BJP and Congress were selected as members of Appellate Committee of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC). Sandeep Sahu and Annu Ram Sahu from Congress and Manoj Prajapati and leeladhar Chandrakar of BJP were elected as members of Appellate Committee.
