Two powerful IEDs, allegedly planted by Maoists militants to target security personnel, were recovered separately in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district, police said.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED), weighing around 30 kg, was unearthed by a team of District Reserve Group (DRG) from a dirt track in the dense forests under Keshkal police station limits, Kondagaon Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told reporters.

While the security personnel were carrying out an area domination-cum-search operation towards Batrali and Kuemari villages road from Keshkal, they spotted the explosives placed in a big steel container hidden underground. The explosive was meant to harm security personnel during their operations in the region, Singh said, adding that the IED was immediately destroyed by the bomb disposal squad.
