Potholes to be named after ministers!

Published on:

Active monsoon this season has no doubt taken toll of roads specially in capital causing much inconvenience to commuters. Some of these ditches filled with rain water even posed danger to life of people as well.

And hence days are not far when the major potholes on city roads will be named after ruling party leaders, specially senior ministers in the State cabinet. As much as bigger will be the pothole, so bigger it would attract the name.

Notably, in his unique style of protest, Raipur Sahar Congress president Vikas Upadhyay has devised a novel way to draw attention of ruling elite towards the pitiable condition of roads despite crores of rupees spent on their construction as well as repairing.

Alleging large scale corruption in road construction, Upadhyay said that even newly constructed roads could not withstand the first season of rains thereby raising the question on the quality of construction.

According to Upadhyay, while fatal accidents are occurring due to roads strewn with potholes, the administration is not ready to come out of its slumber.

In this scenario, the potholes/ditches on roads will be named after senior leaders specially Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, PWD minister Brijmohan Agrawal, Housing and Environment minister Rajesh Munat and others according to their size, depth and the danger quotient, he threatened.

The Congress leader warned that even then if the administration does not come out of the slumber, Congress workers would gherao the residence of senior ministers after digging out roads in front of their houses.
