With a large number of patients reporting medical problems post Covid-19 recovery, Post Covid Out Patient Departments (OPD) will be opened in all district hospitals and Government Medical Colleges in Chhattisgarh. On three days, psychiatrist treatment will be extended to those facing mental problems in the wake of Covid. An order to this effect has been issued, Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), told the media on Thursday. Dr Mishra said the experts from respiratory and chest, psychiatry, ENT, medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic, skin and venerable diseases as well as physiotherapy will be available at these OPDs. A number of such patients are approaching for treatment, he said. The patients will be screened through tests and treatment will be provided based on the diagnosis, he said. Dr Mishra said the tele-OPD is functioning and the Health and Wellness Centre is providing medical assistance through the virtual mode. A total of 77,694 patients have benefitted from the services. On Mucormycosis, he said there is a need to create awareness among those having undergone treatment using steroid and other experimental injections. He rejected reports of ‘White Fungus’ (Candida glabrata or C. albicans).
