Populist schemes pushing state to bankruptcy, alleges BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party alleged on Tuesday that Chhattisgarh government is adopting all means to push the state in total debt by implementing populist schemes just for urgent political gains.

Commenting on state government approaching RBI for second loan within 45 days of the formation of new government, BJP state spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane said, “Within 45 days of Congress government, around Rs 3000 crore loan is being taken which will indirectly be a burden on poor and farmers.”

Comparing it with the BJP government, he said, “In last 18 years, previous governments have taken loan of Rs 36,000 crore for developmental works which on average per year falls to Rs 2000 crore. But it is unfortunate that within 45 days around Rs 3000 crore loan is being taken.”

He says Chhattisgarh had been considered as a state which has been taking the least loan which is total to 17.4 percent of the GSDP but other states it is more than average of 24 percent. Upasane alleged that if same tempo continues, then within 5 years the Congress government will push the state to bankruptcy.

He further said that keeping in view of Lok Sabha election, Congress government is continuing with populist announcements which have led to such a situation.
