Poor batting cost us match: KKR

Poor batting and ordinary fielding cost us match, explained Trevor Bayliss coach Kolkata Knight Riders addressing the post match conference on late Wednesday night here at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium.

“We were very ordinary; batting has been not good mostly. We had two or three good matches with the bat but mostly we had failed with bat which puts pressure on bowling and fielding,” said Bayliss. Over the question of rethinking on batting line up, Bayliss said “we have been continuously doing that in five or six matches, our two or three boys are injured,” said the coach.

According to Trevor Bayliss getting top players on batting list as long as possible is their priority.

“If we do that can have bit of confidence and can score 150 plus which can be a competitive total.”

To another query about fielding and missing some important catches in the match, he said: “If we had taken those catches, we would have been done a good job and would not have 136 on board.”

“We are disappointed to drop catches. We would do our best in the coming matches,” maintained Bayliss.

Explaining the reason for repeating Yusuf Pathan despite his poor performance in the season, Trevor Bayliss said: “We had six batsmen. We thought the wicket was for fast bowlers for today. We are trying to have quality players.”
