Poll ticket seekers flooding Cong office

Published on:

The rush of  ticket seekers for the ensuing Assembly polls have begun in the State Congress camp with more than 100 bio data of the contenders reaching the State Congress Committee Office here, sources said.

This despite the fact that the State Congress had not invited any bio data from the ticket seekers so far. The Committee office had been receiving, on an average, one or two applications from ticket seekers every day.

While there is no buzz in the State Congress office at the moment regarding the offering of tickets, the senior party leaders do want that the candidates for various constituencies be declared three months before the Assembly polls.

Interestingly, the contenders have already started submitting their application with bio data at the State Congress Committee office. Party sources informed that the applications of contenders for most of the Assembly constituencies have already arrived while in many of the constituencies the opponents of the sitting MlAs have also submitted the bio data to seek a ticket.

Sources said that the Congress high command on his part had been searching for the suitable candidates and had also ordered a survey which is being conducted in the State.

Most senior Congress leaders are advising the ticket seekers to start enhancing Congress prospects first in their respective regions.

The ‘Parivartan Yatra’ of State Congress is scheduled from April 12 which would start from Sarguja division and the campaign strategy for all the constituencies is already in place, sources informed.

Meanwhile, the former State president of National Congress Party (NCP) in Chhattisgarh, Nobel Verma’s entry to the Congress party is still hanging fire.

Nobel had resigned from the NCP membership to join the Congress party and two senior party leaders mainly the State Congress President Nandkumar Patel and Union minister Charandas Mahant had also reportedly provided their consent for the former’s entry into the Congress party.

However, Nobel , it was learnt, has kept a pre-condition of being offered a party ticket for the Assembly poll which had been opposed by former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi, sources said.

On the other hand the entry of BSP MlA Saurabh Singh into the Congress party appears certain, party sources said.
