Poll preparations are in full swing in all the 27 districts of the State with the districtm collectors personally supervising work for conduct of fair and incident free Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh.

The training programme for officers to be deployed for poll duty is already underway in districts as per the directives of the Election Commission of India, official sources here informed.

Some of the key guidelines issued to the officials include proper availability of basic amenities in the polling centres besides ensuring that all the temporary officers and ‘pandals’ of political parties are atleast 200 metres away from the police centres.

The poll officials had been directed by their respective district collectors to keep a watch on unauthorised campaign vehicle movements besides being vigilant regarding submission of false account of property held by the candidates when the Model Code of Conduct is in force.

A Control Room is being established in all the districts for receiving poll related complaints and information from the general public and the representatives of political parties for quick action.

The officials are also being taught about the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and what action they need to take in case the machines start malfunctioning during the polling process.

The officials are also being trained to handle all emergency issues during the polling process with the help of local administration and the police.
