For the first time, Chhattisgarh Police has completed its probe into the alleged rape of a 15-year-old and submitted a chargesheet within four days after the crime was reported on October 30 in Raigarh district.

Raigarh Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told The Pioneer over telephone that accused Guddu Paswan (20) was arrested and booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for raping the minor based on her statement.

After the arrest, the police did detailed investigation and within four days Punjipathara police submitted the chargesheet before a local court, the officer added.

The investigating officers have been asked to arrest the accused and file chargesheets as soon as possible in such cases, Singh added.

He said the police will try to get the accused punished after a speedy trial and that the police were also trying to get compensation provided to the victim at the earliest.

In September, the Raigarh police submitted a chargesheet in another rape case, also involving a minor, within five days.
