Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) president, Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday accused the State police for allegedly forcing the locals with poor and labour background to surrender in the name of ‘insurgents’.
“So far, no big Naxal leader has surrendered before the police. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) should conduct Narco test of the policemen who were deployed in security of Jeeram Valley to know the truth” Baghel demanded here during a press conference.“NIA was not interrogating Bastar and Sukma SPs or other officers of the Police Department's Intelligence Wing. It creates doubt as no police official, who was responsible for security arrangements in Jeeram Valley was called by NIA for recording their statements,” he said.
Baghel said that the police was forcing the locals, whom Naxals threaten on gun point to prepare food for them or felling the trees to block the roads to surrender.
“The police can make these people to ‘confess’ anything regarding Jeeram valley massacre episode or other incidents. By witnessing the police working, I fear that big incidents such as that of Jeeram valley attack by Maoists may occur anytime in the State” Baghel said.
