In an attempt to increase its efficiency, police have launched a drive to collect the details of Aadhaar and PAN card numbers and bank details of rogue elements and habitual offenders in the Chhattisgarh capital.

Also being sought are details of their whereabouts.

“All anti-social elements having criminal records are summoned in respective police stations of Raipur with their vital records, including their identification IDs, fingerprints and their Aadhaar and PAN numbers and bank details,” Raipur's Superintendent of Police Ajay Yadav told The Pioneer on Sunday.

"By doing this, our objective is very clear. We want to increase the efficiency of Raipur Police by strengthening the basic policing and also want swift and comprehensive action in criminal cases," the officer added.

This will help police to act more swiftly, Yadav said.

On Sunday, 377 habitual offenders and criminals showed up at police stations across Raipur, he said.
