PM betrayed farmers over doubling income: Baghel

Targeting the Central government, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not fulfilling any of the promises made in general elections.

Campaigning in Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh in support of the Congress candidate, he said Modi talked about doubling the income of farmers by 2022 but instead it has halved.

The Prime Minister also talked about bringing back black money and giving it to people but nothing happened, he said.

Similarly, he promised to give employment to 2 crore people but those who had jobs also lost it in the lockdown, he added.

Baghel said the people of Uttar Pradesh had in the last five phases voted on development issues irrespective of caste and religion and urged them to do the same in the remaining phases also.

Addressing a public meeting, Baghel said that it was clear that the BJP government will not win power in Uttarakhand, Punjab or Uttar Pradesh.

He said unemployment and inflation were rampant in the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and that farmers were not getting the right price for their crops.

He said the main issue of the Congress is that farmers should get a good price for crops, the unemployed should get work and women should get respect.

He emphasized that the BJP has to be defeated if the people want to put a check on inflation, if youths want employment and farmers want prices for their produce.
