Taking up the concept of drying vegetables for use for a longer period in rural Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday said that solar         dryers will be made                 available to Gauthans.

The Chief Minister was addressing a virtual programme for online transfer of funds to the beneficiaries of Godhan Nyay Yojana here.

He said the dried                   vegetables will be packed and marketed.

Giving examples, he said as per local traditions,              drying of vegetables (leafy vegetables, tomatoes, brinjal, green mango and others) can be done at the Gauthans.

He transferred Rs 7.05 crore to those selling cow dung, Gauthan committees and women self-help groups.

Underlining the need for expediting work on Rural Industrial Parks, he said it would be one of the most successful schemes in the country. He said the work of setting up power plants from cow dung in Sukma and Jagdalpur will be completed this month. About 50 percent of our Gauthans have become self-reliant, he said. Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said 37 units for making natural paint from cow dung would be established by the end of January in 37 Gauthans of 25 districts.
