The Chhattisgarh Government is considering a proposal to introduce a system of common examination for appointments to same posts across all the departments requiring same qualifications and having same pay-scales in the State.

Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand has convened a meeting of departmental heads on March 28 on the proposal of the Professional Examination Board (PEB) in this regard. At the meeting, discussion will be held on the targets of the departments for the coming five years.

The PEB has suggested holding of one examination for the vacant posts of same designation, same qualification and same pay-scale of different departments. Earlier also consensus had been reached at administrative level on this, but no further action could be taken in this regard. As a result, appointments have been made in different manner in different departments even for the posts of data entry operators.

It was said that the PEB had again sent a proposal for holding joint examination for such posts. Chairman of the Board Subramaniyam held a discussion in this respect with the Chief Secretary following which the latter convened the meeting of all departmental heads. The meeting will discuss the proposal of the PEB and is likely to take a policy decision on it.

It was said that, at the meeting, discussion would be held on the facilities and other problems in the nine new districts, which, even now have dearth of officers and employees. Besides, construction of collectorate buildings is going on in these districts. All these points, besides the Public Service Guarantee Act, would be discussed at n the meeting.

The Act has been implemented, but people are not getting the facilities within the decided limit of its provisions.
