Asserting that the ‘lok Suraj’ programme of the Chhattisgarh government was a complete failure, the Congress party had alleged that the government had neglected the development of rural areas.
A huge number of applications from the rural areas during the programme testify the same, it said.
In a statement Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President, Bhupesh Baghel said the ruling BJP government was misguiding the people of rural regions in the name of lok Suraj, Gram Suraj and Nagar Suraj.
He demanded from the government to issue white paper on the issue. This year more than 28.54 lakh applicants submitted their pleas to get redress for their problems, Baghel said.
It was a matter of shame and shows administrative apathy towards the programme that Government officials went back leaving the applications in the camp site in one of the places called Mandlore, he said.
Baghel further alleged that government makes just a formality and is not interested to sort out the problems of rural people which they raise during the programme. People of Supebeda pleaded for providing safe potable water during lok Suraj in 2015 but the problem persists even today and the same problem of drinking contaminated water they are facing now during the lok Suraj of 2018, he said. Similarly, issue of canal lining in Gariaband was raised during the lok Suraj of 2012 and the problem is yet to be solved, he said.
