On the instructions of collector R Prasanna, photo voter I-cards will be distributed to the voters by organizing special campaign from September 12 to 19. The collector said, as per the instructions of the election commission of India, the assembly election would be conducted based on the voters’ photo identity card only.
He said that photo identity cards of the voters of their respective areas had been sent to all the tehsildars and assistant election registration officers of the district. He instructed the officers concerned to distribute the prepared total 51,373 voters’ photo identity cards during the campaign, so that no voter be deprived of exercising his/her franchise, in absence of voter photo identity card.
The collector said that the polling centre level officer would distribute the photo identity card through BlO and receive the written acknowledgement from the voters compulsorily. He instructed all the BlOs to make the list of voters, whose photo identity card has not yet been prepared, with all necessary details available, so that their photo ID could be prepared immediately and distributed to them.
He told the officers to give second copy of the photo I-card of those who have lost them after depositing prescribed fee in the bank through challan. The collector said that 31,154 voters’ photo identity cards of all the assembly constituencies of the district were prepared in the special campaign in the first phase, and 20,219 in the second phase and send them assembly wise, under the special voters review campaign.
