The three-day photo exhibition on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that was organised by the department of public relations concluded on Friday.

The State Government celebrated the former Prime Minister’s 89th birthday on December 25 as ‘Sushashan Diwas’ (Good Governance Day) and organised several programmes across the State in honour of the veteran BJP leader. The exhibition was inaugurated on Wednesday by Chief Minister Raman Singh. People in large numbers, even from other States, had come to the State capital to see Vajpayee’s life in photographs.

Apart from Vajpayee’s political achievements and moments from his personal life, the exhibition also displayed his poems. The exhibition received a warm response from the people. “I feel very connected to Vajpayee ji. May be because he did so much for villages and this exhibition was a great way to honour him,” said Mukesh Kumar Sharma, a visitor from Agra. People suggested that Vajpayee’s novels, videos and transcripts of his speeches should have also included in the exhibition.

Vajpayee was popular for his curt and direct poems in Hindi that have been translated in several languages. “People from every age group like to read and listen to him. Even his political opponents admire his distinct qualities. I have learned so much more about his life through this exhibition,” said Ambreesh Dwivedi, a visitor. “Every time I come across his works, I am inspired. Vajpayee had changed the definition of a leader in this country. I am taking back a lot of memories from this exhibition,” said Sanjay Dubey.
