It is not just the responsibility of Forest Department to guard saplings planted during plantation drive but people are equally responsible for ensuring safety of saplings, said Forest Minister Mahesh Gagda while addressing a convention of Halba Adivasi Samaj at village Ghathula under Nagri block of Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district on Sunday.
“Plants and trees play a vital role in maintaining equilibrium within the environment which impacts the lives of all living beings. If villagers assure of providing requisite safety to saplings by constituting a committee at village level then the Department will definitely undertake massive plantation drive in the region,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister also announced of giving around 2.5 acres of land for setting up a Water Filteration Plant and development of a Depot.
Addressing the gathering, Gagda said people of Halba community are dynamic and hardworking. large numbers of people belonging to the community are active in the field of politics, social work as well as employed in government service.
