BJP National Secretary Arun Singh on Sunday said that due to public welfare schemes and good governance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Raman Singh, the people have shown enthusiasm in becoming members of the party. Addressing a meeting to review membership campaign in the State, Singh said that BJP membership has reached 8 crores in the country.

Even the States where the organisation in not very strong like in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and North-East, a large number of people are taking membership of BJP, he said.

Singh said that Congress has become a directionless party and is only misleading people as in the case of Kashmir issue and land Acquisition Bill. Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Raman Singh expressed confidence in achieving membership target set for the State. The workers will achieve the membership target in the same way in which they had achieved success in lok Sabha, Assembly, Urban Body and Panchayat elections, he said.

Singh said that the Panchayat elections have concluded recently and the party will have to reach each and every Panch and Sarpanch and request them for their cooperation in membership drive. By this, we can take the membership drive at the grass roots level, Singh said.

BJP State President Dharamlal Kaushik said that it is due to enthusiastic party workers the party is just a step away from the membership target. It is certain that the BJP will soon become the party with the largest membership in the world, he said.

BJP National General Secretary Saroj Pandey said that the party will soon move ahead of the Communist Party of China in membership. The key to party’s success is its discipline and active workers. She said that Congress, which has ruled for decades, has only 2 crore members whereas BJP through its works is going to become biggest party of the world.
