Pensioners in Chhattisgarh on Monday sought a Pension Directorate on the lines of other states.
Chhattisgarh State Pensioners Federation President Virendra Namdev said such a body existed in Madhya Pradesh. A provision should be made to approve it in the coming budget session (2023-2024).
He said the work of pensioners was now being done by the Pension Department linked with the Treasury and Accounts section of the Finance Department.
As the Finance department already faces a shortage of staff, the work of pensioners is affected, he said. A said the Directorate of Pension, Provident Fund and Insurance in Madhya Pradesh has a separate Head of Department under the Finance Department.
It monitors pension offices located in all the districts responsible for issuing pension, gratuity and commutation payment orders (PPO, GPO and CPO) to state government employees, he said.
