Raipur Municipal Commissioner on Monday Avanish Sharan conducted spot inspection of different nullahs and streets to take stock of pre-monsoon cleaning drive in the city.

Dissatisfied by the poor state of nullahs and city roads, Sharan asked the officers to penalise the company ‘Raipur Waste Management Private limited (RWMPl)’ which have been awarded cleaning work contract for the city.

Sharan along with other officers of RMC inspected the nullahs in Panchsheel Nagar, Budhimata Mandir (near Rajendra Nagar), Udyog Bhawan (Ring Road), Kanshiram Nagar and Bhatagaon (Ring Road).

He was dissatisfied by the condition of the nullahs which were supposed to be clean before onset of monsoons. He asked the waste management department of RMC to slap a fine on RWMPl for not performing according to the terms of the contract.

Sharan also expressed dissatisfaction over improper cleaning of public roads in Priyadarshni Nagar and immediately directed the officers of RWMPl to clean the roads as per the contract.

The Commissioner asked RWMPl authorities to get all the nullahs of the city cleaned  before the monsoon arrives in the interest of public and engage additional manpower to complete the work within time.

Sharan also reviewed the ongoing levelling work at Sarona trenching ground. He found that one Pocklan machine was used for levelling. The Commissioner directed RMC’s Health Officer to press into service two more Pocklan machines to expedite the work.

He inspected the ongoing construction of nullah at Bhatagaon and was not satisfied by the slow pace of work. Sharan instructed the Zone Commissioner to expedite the construction work in view of public health.
