Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain on Saturday called for releasing the payment of farmers into their bank accounts against the paddy procured at minimum support price from December 1.
Holding a review meeting with senior officials of the food, cooperative, agriculture, Marketing Federation and Civil Supplies Corporation, Jain laid emphasis in providing maximum number of gunny sacks where larger quantities of paddy is procured.
All the necessary procurement procedures should be completed by November 28, an official communication said.
Jain said with largescale procurement, stern action should be taken against middlemen after identifying them. The transportation of illegal paddy from neighbouring states should also be monitored and action initiated.
A nodal officer should be appointed in each society to monitor the procurement, the Chief Secretary said.
He asked to rectify any error regarding the crop land details in software registered by the farmers.
The state targets to procure 105 lakh tonnes of paddy from registered farmers. The government will incur around `21,000 crores as the cost of paddy procurement. The procurement requires 5.25 lakh bales of jute sacks.
The Centre has sanctioned 2.14 lakh bales of jute sacks, out of which 67,237 bales have been received. In case of shortage, plastic sacks will be used.
