The Chhattisgarh State Congress on Sunday demanded from the State Government to first give compensation to the farmers whose land has been acquired by the Government for development of Naya Raipur before August 17, and then take out the Vikas Yatra.
In a party press statement issued here on Sunday, the Congress spokes person Mahendra Chhabra said that the State BJP Government was planning to take out second phase of its Vikas Yatra on August 17 from Aarang, Assembly constituency, many villages of which are coming under the Naya Raipur project.
He said, it was known to all that the Government has not yet given compensation to affected farmers of the villages included in the Naya Raipur project, but multi-storey buildings have been constructed on their land.
He alleged that the Housing Board has constructed multi-storey buildings on the land of the farmers and has been selling them on high rates, but the farmers have to wander from pillar to the post for compensation of their land acquired by the Government.
Even after staging many a dharna, protest, gherao and Jail Bharo Andolan by the affected farmers, the Government could not solve their compensation cases so far, he added.
In such a situation, when the farmers of the Assembly constituency were compelled to wander here and there for their compensation, the State Government was going to narrate its hollow development story there, by inaugurating its Vikas Yatra by the opposition leader of the lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Chhabra said.
