District election officer Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi held a meeting with returning officers, assistant returning officers and sector officers to ensure free and fair elections in five civic bodies of Bilaspur district, scheduled for Monday.
Pardeshi directed the officers and police to coordinate and take measures to create an environment of confidence and security for conducting free and fair civic body elections in the district. Pardeshi reviewed the preparedness for the elections. All arrangements like water, electricity and furniture at polling stations were discussed in detail in the meeting.
He informed in the meeting that first time electronic voting machines (EVMs) would be used in the civic bodies elections. Bilaspur Municipal Corporation commissioner Ranu Sahu, Zila Panchayat Bilaspur chief executive officer Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, additional collector Neelkanth Tekam, deputy district election officer S P Vaidh and other officers were present for the meeting.
