Chhattisgarh's Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale on Thursday asked officials to chalk out an action plan so that voters with disabilities can vote easily in the 2023 assembly elections.
She was chairing the Chhattisgarh Steering Committee on Accessible Elections here.
She briefed the officials of the Social Welfare Department and the Directorate of Public Education on recommendations forwarded by the National Advisory Committee on Accessible Elections.
Kangale suggested holding a special camp in collaboration with the Health and Family Welfare Department to provide medical certificates of disability to the identified disabled voters.
She called for organizing training programmes at the district level. Training must also be imparted to election officials and security personnel.
A camp should also be held for adding names of third-gender and those having attained the age of 18 years in the voters' list, she added.
She said cooperation of NGOs and civil-social organizations and volunteers working for the welfare of the third gender community can be taken.
