Panchayat teachers and other educational staff working under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan held a massive protest rally on Sunday to seek their three-month outstanding payments before Diwali, Oct 23.

Despite several reminders to the local authority as well as to the State Government, there is no sign that teachers will get their pending salary before Diwali, the protesters alleged.

In a bid to pressurize the authorities, the Panchayats teachers gathered together at open theatre, Ghantaghar Chowk and staged protest under the leadership of State President of Shikshak Panchayat/Nagariya Nikay Sangh, Girish Keshkar and district President Nohar Chandra.

The teachers staged a sit-in and then took out a rally peacefully commencing from Ghanta Ghar chowk and concluding at Collectorate premises. Reaching the Collectorate, a delegation of the prosters submitted a memorandum to Collector Reena Baba Saheb Kangale which was addressed to Chief Minister Raman Singh regarding their demands.

Besides listing out their core demand of financial issues, the Panchayats teachers have also appealed to form a welfare fund and deduct Rs10 from the salary of each 1,80,000 Shikshak Panchayats of the state to add it in the fund so that it could be used during the time of any emergency.

This apart, they also highlighted their other demands through the memorandum.
