In another incident of Maoists unmindful violence, the Panchayat Secretary of Karnipal village in Raigarh district was brutally murdered by Naxals on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday suspecting him to be a police informer. Since the deceased was a government employee, he used to visit police stations, revenue office and other Government offices and hence he was a soft target, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Raigarh Rahul Bhagat on Sunday.
Talking with 'The Pioneer' over phone, the SP said that the deceased was identified as lakhpati Dadsena, a resident of Karramar village under Baramkela police station. He was beaten to death by Maoists on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
According to villagers, around a dozen armed ultras abducted Dadsena (47) late on Saturday night from his house at Karramar village, around 45 km from Raigarh, and beat him to death at the village 'chaupal' (public place), the SP said.
The Maoists also left behind a hand written pamphlet stating that the panchayat secretary was killed because he was a police informer. “The place where Dadsena was killed is a Maoist hotbed and in past two years police gunned down many Naxals in those areas including few Naxal commanders and Maoist often commit such crimes whenever they are on back foot,” said SP Raigarh.
Meanwhile, after the incident the villagers staged gherao of Baramkela thana as police were late in reaching the spot after the incident, sources informed. Fear gripped the village after the brutal murder of panchayat secretary.
