State Home, Jail and Public Health Engineering Minister Ramsevak Paikra opened Facebook page of Surguja District Police at Police Coordination Centre here on Tuesday.
In his address later, Paikra said that this page will set stage for people to be directly in touch with Surguja District Police. The page will also serve as platform for people of all sections of society to share their views and ideas with cops.
He said that this initiative is an effective step towards smart policing and 'Digital India'.
“People of remote areas will be able to convey their thoughts and opinions to police through this page. And even those people, who hesitate or cannot reach the police station for some or the other reasons, may openly share their views on this page,” Paikra said.
He said that this facebook page will help police in disseminating information about its programmes and arrangements to the public.
The pogramme was also attended by Ambikapur Mayor Dr Ajay Tirkey, Surguja Division Commissioner TC Mahawar, Inspector General of Police TJ langkumer and Superintendent of Police RS Nayak.
On the occasion, public representatives along with the officials and employees of Police Department were present.
